Which Agility
Training Book?
WHICH ONE SHOULD YOU GET?
While each book seems equal in basic obstacle introduction and training,
(the first one being a little better), there are added bonus chapters in each
one that are a little different. We hope the following information helps:
"AGILITY TRAINING":
- Has info. on how to organize and run an agility trial
as well as running a training class, including a detailed goal-schedule
chart for trainers to teach agility to students, from beginner to advanced.
- Detailed Plans for making your own competition-quality
obstacles out of wood
- Contains some diagrams of obstacle
exercises/sequences.
- Choosing a dog for agility, breeds, temperament,
socialization advice, etc.
"ALL ABOUT AGILITY":
- Has more details on competing in your first agility
trial, what to expect, what to bring, how to deal with nervousness,
etc. Also has good section on common mistakes people make at trials,
and tips from the pros.
- Has a section on trial organization comparisons
(USDAA/AKC/UKC/etc.), with basic info. on rules, titles, class differences,
etc., and addresses/phone #'s to contact each one.
- Also has a list of national and local agility clubs,
and information on what to expect in joining a training class.
- Our preference for giving to young people starting
off...maybe a little more user-friendly for beginners than the first one.
