Contact Trainer Information Page...
Here you will find commonly asked questions and shipping
information for our Contact Trainer. Drop us a line
or call (1-800-254-9441) if you have any other questions or comments ~ we'd love to hear from you!
"How heavy is
it?"
Each side is approximately 30 lbs, for a total of about
60 lbs. It must ship as a 70 lb rate through UPS however, because of its
size. Each side separates from the other with a removable hinge pin.
To move it, simply tip over on its
side, remove pin, and move each side to your new location.
"How low or
high can I adjust it's height?"
Approximately 12" high to
32" high. You'll want to start off low to train
beginner dogs. It is adjusted by lengthening or shortening the strong
support chain that helps to keep the sides together.
"What are
the dimensions and how is it constructed?"
The a-frame side is 46" long, by 34" wide. The dog-walk ramp is tapered from 12" wide on the
bottom to 34" at the top, and is 70 1/2" long assembled.
It is constructed of a 1" square tubular aluminum frame topped with
1/2" plywood that has two coats sand-infused exterior paint, and
cross-slats every 12". The yellow contact zones are 42"
long.
"Does it
come in other colors?"
To keep our costs down and our items in
stock for immediate shipping, we offer only the popular
royal blue and yellow color combination. You can paint over the blue
if you wish for a different color. We can do it for you, for an extra
charge (non-refundable), and if you are not in a rush.
What is the 'Limited Warranty'?
By purchasing the this item, you are agreeing to the terms of the warranty. We urge you to read and understand it completely. If you have any questions about it, please do contact us prior to purchasing. Read about it here.
"What else
should I know?"
The uniqueness of your Contact Trainer:
You
can expect slight imperfections and defects to your Contact Trainer. Each one is
handcrafted and each will have individual characteristics. As plywood is made up
of multiple layers, you can expect that there may be voids and small splits that
either will already be in the grain, or will develop over time. These are to be
expected and they will not deter from the functionality of the obstacle. They
will not go all the way through the wood.
Maintenance:
Wood naturally shrinks and expands with the weather, so it is best if you
periodically paint the top (and bottom) to prolong its life. Use an exterior
paint, preferably oil-based. Use a flat or a semi-gloss. Voids (on the edges)
and cracks in the wood are also a natural occurrence and cannot be avoided. But
if you will be keeping your Contact Trainer outside, you can fill these voids in
the wood with wood putty and then paint over them. This will prolong its life.
"What can I
expect in shipping?"
This item ships by UPS, at a 90 lb oversize
level 2 rate. Shipping is approximately 20% ($78-$98) depending on how far
your state is from N.Y. If you order other items at the same time,
shipping may not be much extra, because we might find it economical to ship all
the items by freight instead, saving you some money.
Hawaii and Alaska and Canada: These require a special
quote. If you order online from one of these places, the shipping will
come up as "$0" in the shopping cart, but we will be contacting you
with the shipping amount to get your approval to add it on to the cost before
processing your order.
"How fast can
I receive it?"
Approximately 2 weeks (possibly quicker if needed!).
Except for rare exceptions, all our items are in stock ready to ship.
